As a prelude to our Sustainable Transport for the Future event on Sunday 31st we will explore what sustainable transport really means.

Within the transport world there is heated debate about whether swapping to electric cars makes transport sustainable on one hand and that electric cars are only a small part of what we need to do on the other.

Transport is tied in with development and it affects how our cities change and grow. Enabling more cars can mean more bushland and koala habitat gets cleared for urban sprawl. Advocates for reducing car use are often seen as inner-city elites who can afford the choice. And that’s before you get on to social equity for those who for many reasons don't have the option to drive.

Somewhere in between there is a balance with cars, public transport, e-bikes, e-scooters, bicycles, and walking all part of the mix. Come along and be part of the discussion.

Our fourth Tuesday networking events:

Collaborations are the key to positive and effective action on climate change and biodiversity loss. Nobody can do it on their own.

Whatever your focus – environment, transport, urban planning, communication, food security, health, change management, behavioural psychology, finance, etc., you have a part to play in protecting the environment we live in and finding ways to address climate change and biodiversity loss.

We start with a 30-minute presentation about a topic that has environmental relevance and is aligned with our objectives and goals. We hope to trigger off a thought process and discussions about how sustainability and transport connects with your own ideals and objectives.

After the presentation, there will be time for everyone to network with people from different organisations and disciplines and see what ideas and collaborations emerge. We are certain there will opportunities to meet and liaise with lots of interesting people in the process.
