Join us for our next ACF bushwalk which will be on Friday, 1st May, starting from our meeting point at 10.00am and returning to the meeting point by 12.30pm.
The loop walk is in the Sedgewick State Forest, over the Sedgwick Ridge, near Emu Creek Road, Emu Creek. The walk is moderate to hard, starting with a short gentle sloping track and progressing to steeper inclines to reach the ridge. The group will need to stay together because the side tracks are confusing and at times the walk will not be on a defined track. For the second part of the walk we will follow a water channel, which winds its way around the base of the ridge, before ascending up and over the steeper slopes to return to the starting point. The mature box-ironbark forest in this area has a wide variety of bird calls, elusive lizards and the Acacia genistifolia is blossoming.
The meeting point is about 25-30 minutes’ drive from central Bendigo, 30 minutes from Castlemaine and 45-50 minutes from Kyneton. You will need to register to find out exactly where we will meet and start our walk.
We will walk about 6 km and expect to finish within 2.5 hours. The walk follows minor gravel roads, forest tracks and mountain bike tracks. Please wear sturdy supportive (preferably waterproof) footwear and suitable clothing, bring your walking poles (if you wish), drinking water and snacks, and protect yourself from the elements.
Please RSVP here so we know who is coming. You will get an email confirming your booking, with details of the specific starting point. (Email’s Subject: Thanks for RSVPing! from ACF [email protected])
Friends, family and community members are welcome, but each person needs to register individually.
If this is your first time to walk with us, please text Philippe on 0400198375 with your name and mobile number. Then, if you're running late, you can be called.
Hope to see you there :-)
