ACF Deakin 2025 Election Campaign Launch!

Thursday 13 February 2025
06:00pm - 09:00pm
Ringwood Bowls Club
2-12 Loughnan Rd, Ringwood, Melbourne, VIC 3134, Australia
Get directions

Join us at the Ringwood Bowls Club for a family-friendly BBQ & some games of bowls on the lawn! We'll also be sharing our plans to engage people in the electorate of Deakin on the issues of nature protection and urgent climate action as we lead up to the Federal Election.

We want to live in a world with healthy and thriving ecosystems, with a safer future guaranteed for the next generations. But right now, our natural world is in crisis. Australia's extraordinary landscapes are being pillaged by unchecked habitat destruction and climate pollution. The time for our political leaders to take decision action is now! We know that the federal election will be a big moment to show just how much community support there is for urgent nature protection and climate action.

Over the coming months until the federal election is called, ACF Deakin volunteers will be running stalls at local markets, doorknocking, having conversations with friends and family, and putting up big and bright yard signs with powerful messages that saying Yes to Renewables, No to Nuclear, Yes to Protecting Nature and No New Coal and Gas.

We know that there are so many passionate individuals, volunteers and local organisations working in the electorate of Deakin who are doing their bit to protect nature and the planet every day. We believe that when we bring those people together, we can have the biggest possible impact for nature and climate solutions. We're happy to say that Environment Victoria, Transitions Towns Maroondah, the Blackburn Lake Sanctuary Advisory Committee, CROWAG, the Field Naturalists Club of Victoria, the Just Transitions Team from Victorian Trades Hall, and the local Wonderful Upcycling Program will be joining us on the night to share what they do and how you can also get involved with the fantastic work they do in the local area. The WUP Shop will also be bringing along some of their beautiful, sustainably and locally made wares for sale.

Come along on Thursday 13 February from 6pm to:

  • find out how you can get involved and help us supercharge our activities here in Deakin
  • enjoy a free BBQ (with vegetarian & vegan options)
  • have a game of lawn bowls
  • help us lift the ambition of all political candidates on their climate and nature policies

Whether you’re a seasoned community volunteer, or new to the space, please come along! If you’re already part of a community volunteer group, please come along and connect. We'd love to give you and your group the opportunity to share what you do and how people can get involved on the day as well.

See you there!

P.S. We're looking for a few volunteers that can help out on the night. If you'd be keen to help out you can sign up to volunteer here.
