As part of Riverfest 2025, we’re joining the celebration of our living waterway by getting our hands dirty for Birrarung! Come along for a meaningful day of planting and weeding by the river to help restore native habitat of the Yarra, Birrarung.

Our meeting point is by the Punt Pier (view map). Riverfest is presented by the Yarra Riverkeeper Association and partners Burndap Birrarung burndap umarkoo collaboration and Melbourne Water — a reminder that what is good for the Yarra is good for all.
Simple actions, like planting, contribute to a healthy, protected, and loved Birrarung. There’s something for everyone at Riverfest — come be part of the care.

9:30am Introduction to the volunteer activities & safety briefing.
10:00-11:00am Volunteer activity.
11:00-11:30am Coffee, tea and biscuits.
11:30am-12:30pm Volunteer activity.
🌱🐢🌏 What to Bring
This is Melbourne! Please bring a hat, sunscreen, jacket, reusable water bottle, enclosed shoes and gardening gloves (extra gloves will be available). All gardening equipment is provided.
Share a cuppa with us! Morning tea is on us, but feel free to bring some biscuits to share or your favourite herbal tea - a reusable cup for yourself would be especially appreciated.
👉 Working with Children Check (for volunteers) - All organisations in Victoria that provide services or facilities for children are required to comply with Child Safe Standards. To comply with these Standards, Vic Parks which oversees the management of this park, require that all volunteers who attend an event after 30 June 2022 have applied for a Working with Children Check (WWCC) for volunteers. You can apply via the link below. The cards may take time to arrive. Proof of your submission is acceptable to participate in this event.
