Join us for an eye-opening evening focused on uncovering Australia’s gas problem through the firsthand accounts of two coastal communities. In Gladstone, extensive dredging for LNG export terminals destroyed over 1,500 hectares of seagrass and decimated local fishing businesses. Now Geelong faces similar risks, with industry experts estimating the proposed Viva Energy Gas Terminal could require 10-100 times more dredging than officially assessed.
We will hear from environmental experts sharing firsthand accounts from Gladstone's dredging disaster, Geelong community members fighting to protect Corio Bay, and climate experts explaining Australia's broken gas market. The evening includes expert panels, a call to action for protecting our coast, and informal networking.
Panellists include:
- Mark Ogge (The Australia Institute)
- Kat Lucas-Healey (Environment Victoria)
- Darren Kessner (Gladstone ACF Branch)
- Lauren Dillon (Geelong Renewables Not Gas community organiser)
See you there!
