[Funding climate damage:] campaign briefing on ANZ and NAB’s gas and oil policies

Wednesday 15 December 2021
06:00pm - 07:15pm
Online on Zoom, RSVP to receive the link via email

ACF, Market Forces, and 350.org Australia are co-hosting a webinar to delve into NAB and ANZ’s new gas and oil lending policies, and discuss how we can all work together to pressure banks to end funding climate pollution this decade.

The speakers are:

  • Jack Bertolus: Australian Campaigns Coordinator at Market Forces.
  • Nicki Hutley: Economist and Councillor at The Australian Climate Council.
  • Roy Poynton: Corporate Engagement Organiser at The Australian Conservation Foundation
  • Kelly Albion: Campaigns Director at 350 Australia. Kelly will MC the discussion.

Big banks need a plan to exit all coal, gas and oil by 2030 to keep warming below 1.5°C and avoid the worst of climate damage. Instead, since 2016 ANZ has invested more than $13 billion in polluting fossil fuel projects, and just weeks ago NAB outlined its plans to continue funding gas and oil projects well past 2030.

Big banks can be leaders of a green economy, driving investment in renewables, sustainable jobs and a just transition for all communities.

Join the campaign briefing to discuss how together, we can keep banks accountable so they commit to exiting all polluting fossil fuels this decade.

This event goes from 6.00 - 7.15pm AEDT. That's a:

  • 6pm start in VIC, NSW, ACT, TAS
  • 5.30pm start in SA
  • 5pm start in QLD
  • 4.30pm start in NT
  • 3pm start in WA.
