A conversation about The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson
The book follows the actions of the Ministry for the Future, an international organisation arising from the Paris agreement, who are “charged with defending all living creatures present and future who cannot speak for themselves”. The book is set in the near future, however is eerily prescient about events that we are experiencing already, such as the recent heatwaves across Europe, US and Canada. The novel explores different responses to avert climate disaster and drive change from perspectives of India as a vulnerable country, scientists, economists, ecoterrorists and poor Frank who was the sole survivor of a traumatic event.
