Brisbane Northside, QLD: Informal visit to a verge garden & Casual Coffee - March 2026

Monday 16 March 2026
10:00am - 10:45am
City of Moreton Bay Demonstration Verge Garden
18 George St, Deception Bay, QLD 4508, Australia
Get directions

Our monthly verge visits are continuing in 2026.

The verge visit is from 10am to 10:45am. We will go to a nearby cafe or coffee shop afterwards.

City of Moreton Bay introduced a new Verge Garden Information Pack in November. See story here.

This is a visit to one of the demonstration gardens described in the Pack. Each one has different plants.

This month we are going to George St, Deception Bay. (news story)

We will discuss the special aspects of the verge, the plants chosen to increase biodiversity and the differences between council policies. Brisbane and Moreton Bay policies are different and you must ensure that you follow the right policy.

City of Moreton Bay verge garden policy: download the policy and information pack which includes details and plant lists for all three demonstration gardens.

The ACF Community Brisbane Northside Verge Garden Nature Project is part of the Australian Conservation Foundation’s Save Our Big Backyard campaign to raise community awareness and knowledge about the importance of biodiversity and native habitat in our suburbs as well as in regional and remote areas.

Native verge gardens support street trees to create cooler, walkable, interesting streets.

Find out what's involved in planting out your own verge garden. Why are the benefits? What are the restrictions?

Please RSVPs for insurance purposes.

If you just want to come to coffee, send us a message on the day to find out where we'll be.
Contact phone number is in the auto-reply to your RSVP.
