Help restore nature in your own backyard!
Members of the ACF Hunter community are invited to a bush care event at Tilligerry Habitat Reserve in Port Stephens on Saturday 11 October 2025 from 10am.
We will be helping remove weeds to help restore the biodiversity at the 9-hectare flora and fauna reserve on the foreshore of Tanilba Bay.
We will weed the bushland for about an hour and then have our lunch in the covered facilities, where coffee and tea will be provided. You can walk along the foreshore boardwalk afterwards.
Please bring along your gardening gloves and favourite gardening tools for weeding (the buffalo grass that is spreading), sturdy shoes, drinks and lunch.
Tilligerry Habitat Reserve
The Tilligerry Habitat Reserve contains a swamp mahogany paperbark forest, regenerating heath and woodland from sand mining, and the Chorus Creek wetlands.
More than 100 native bird species, occasional koalas, echidnas and bandicoots have been seen at the reserve, which also hosts a range of native flora, including native orchids and bush tucker plants.
