Campaign Update: We’re putting deforestation on the agenda at the ANZ and NAB Annual General Meetings

Tuesday 25 November 2025
12:30pm - 01:00pm
Online via Zoom

ACF, SIX and a group of dedicated shareholders recently made history by filing Australia’s first ever shareholder resolutions on deforestation for banks. These resolutions, which will be voted on at the ANZ and NAB Annual General Meetings, ask the banks to come clean on how much money they are lending to customers involved in deforestation, and put in place a clear strategy to stop deforestation in line with global standards.

Banks have a powerful role to play in either helping or exacerbating Australia's extinction crisis through their lending policies. For years, NAB and ANZ have financed companies who are bulldozing vital habitat for koalas, greater gliders and countless other wildlife. While banks are starting to grapple with deforestation, it's up to the community to hold them to account.

Join us for a campaign update on our shareholder resolution campaign so far and how you can support the campaign.

  • What: Campaign Update – We’re putting deforestation on the agenda at the ANZ and NAB Annual General Meetings
  • When: Tuesday 25th November, 12.30-1pm AEDT (that’s a start time of 12.30pm in NSW, VIC, ACT and TAS, 12pm in SA, 11.30am in QLD, 10.30am in NT and 9.30am in WA)
  • Where: Online via Zoom. RSVP to receive the Zoom link

At the webinar we'll be sharing:

  • How the banks have responded to our resolutions and what their responses tell us
  • The broader impact this could have on Australia’s banking sector
  • What comes next, and how you can continue to support the campaign

These shareholder resolutions represent a turning point for the banking sector. For the first time, Australian banks are facing pressure from their own shareholders to stop financing the bulldozing of our forests.

Hope to see you at the webinar!
