Training: Introduction To Slack

Thursday 7 April 2022
06:30pm - 08:00pm
Online via Zoom - Details will be sent after registration

If there’s one thing we’ve learnt over the past couple of years it’s that the internet is an amazing tool that keeps us connected, and we should use it!

With 42 of our ACF Community groups spread far and wide across the country, Slack is what we use to bridge the gaps in space and time and remain engaged in our united fight for action to protect nature and climate.

That's why we are inviting you to join our training session on how to use the basics of Slack to strengthen your community group.

Slack is an online platform that allows ACF Community group members, fellows and staff to talk in real time. Whether it be inviting others to an event, sharing good news about a recent win, recommending a documentary or book, or simply asking a question to your peers - Slack keeps you connected and up to date with your group, ACF as an organisation and the broader movement.

This training will cover the following:

Starting with Slack

  • Downloading, installing and logging into Slack
  • Workspace
  • Permission level and naming conventions

 Slack features

  • How we communicate using channels, direct messages (DM), threads and mentions

We will also give a live demonstration of how to use Slack and you’ll have the chance to have a go as well!

The training starts at 6.30pm AEST – so that's 6.30pm in ACT, NSW, TAS, QLD and VIC; 6pm in SA and NT; 4.30pm in WA.

This training will go for an hour and a half.

Who is this training is intended for:

  • Those who haven't used Slack before at all and would like to start using it
  • Those who have used Slack and would like a refresher

After you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the training.

See you there!
