This is about a meeting starting 7 pm on Tuesday 22 June. (Central Sydney Branch of Citizens' Climate Lobby holds regular meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month.)
We will meet face-to-face in the Norman Selfe Room, Level 3, at the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts 280 Pitt St starting 7 pm. (Check the room location on notice stand outside the lift in the foyer at ground level.)
All welcome to pre-meeting refreshments from 6 pm at Cellini’s Café and Bar, Queen Victoria Building opposite Hobbyco Level 2 - look for Citizens' Climate Lobby T-shirts.
I am pleased to announce that we have a guest speaker, Rebecca Riggs MSc. The title of her talk is "Australia’s changing spring and summer temperatures: a look through to 2099". This of course has agricultural implications. Farmers may be able to use the results of Rebecca's research to help them plan the planting times of their crops.
Rebecca has a masters degree in ocean and climate physics from the University of Hamburg, and has experience in oceanographic research, specifically as an onboard scientist on the CSIRO research vessel "Investigator" and on a vessel in waters surrounding Iceland, organised by the University of Hamburg. Her masters thesis is about distinguishing current and future spring temperatures from current and pre-industrial summer temperatures in Europe.

At some stage of the meeting, we introduce ourselves, tell of any good news, and long-time members explain to newcomers how Citizens' Climate Lobby advocacy for action on climate change complements protest demonstrations.
You will have opportunities to have your say.
We entertain, educate and support each other in raising public awareness about the seriousness and urgency of acting to find solutions to the climate disruption problem by
- proposing a brilliant method of pricing fossil fuels
- helping each other with writing letters to newspapers and to community leaders
- form well-thought-out strategies for meetings with community leaders, including politicians, especially to encourage consensus on the urgent need to stem carbon emissions.
Our meetings are interesting and enjoyable, even though the underlying motive is serious and the involvement of people at the "grass-roots" level has never been more important.

Scientists' recommendation of world average 1.5 degrees of warming above the pre-industrial level will still make life very difficult for our children. World average is currently 1.1 degrees; Australian average is 1.4 degrees.
