The ACF Community webinar runs every month and is made up of exciting discussion and debate around an important question/topic the community might be facing. Make sure you encourage other group members to come along. All are welcome!
At the moment, Federal Environment Minister Watt is deciding on the first stages of the new environmental standards and as they currently stand, they are not fit for purpose.
But the good news is that we have an opportunity to improve these standards.
Hear from ACF’s Nature Campaigner Darcie Carruthers to find out how you and your community group can put pressure on Labor.
The standards are essentially a checklist that the Governments will use to decide whether projects that impact Australia’s threatened forests, reefs and animals should get the greenlight or not. If these standards are not improved, the natural world we rely on will continue to decline.
We will also be joined by ACF’s National Climate Policy Advisor, Annika Reynolds. They will present ACF’s recent report on the Safeguard Mechanism and outline how Labor is not on track to meet its own climate goals, because of the continued influence of big coal and gas.
Annika will talk us through how we can ramp up the pressure on the government to use the Safeguard Mechanism to actually cut pollution and stop new coal and gas projects.
