Queensland Conservation Council, Australian Conservation Foundation, The Wilderness Society and Birdlife Australia are partnering together to deliver a free workshop designed to effectively engage with MPs and deliver messages for climate.
QCC, ACF, TWS and Birdlife Australia are all not-for-profits dedicated to advocating for environmental conservation and protections. While each organisation has specific aims and purposes, collectively we all care about the same issue: making sure our precious environment is safe for generations to come. We also all know that going directly to MPs and pressuring them for real change is one of the most effective tools people have in the fight for nature and climate.
Join us on the 30th of September at The Wilderness Society office in West End to learn from climate and nature organisers about how to utilise personal networks, stories and communities when approaching MPs and tips for engaging effectively during meetings. During this workshop we will break into groups based on electorates and use community and power mapping tools to identify strategic campaigning paths. There will also be space at the end to talk next steps and bring your own ideas forward into a collaborative space. Some light refreshments of tea, coffee, fruits and biscuits will be provided.
When: 30th September, 6-7:30pm AEST
Where: The Wilderness Society, G1/187 Melbourne St, South Brisbane, QLD 4101
Best transport and parking: Soda Factory or West Village have 2 hours free parking with rates up to $5 for 3 hour parking. Street parking is available but often limited and requires a fee. There are also regular buses that go through South Brisbane and South Brisbane train station is a 12 minute walk away.
Come along, create some new connections, and get ready to maximise your impact!
