Are you feeling the stress of what is going on in Australia and around the world just now? Do you need some time out?

Then...join us and immerse yourself in nature for a gentle and explorative walk through the Seven Hills Bushland Reserve.

For our May Ramble, we are fortunate to again have Michael Ryan of Perrin Creek Bushcare return as our guide. Michael brings a wealth of knowledge of the Seven Hills forests and ecosystems and their flora and fauna.

In addition, for this Ramble, Michael will be joined by two scientists: Gunter and Frank.

Gunter is an entomologist who specialises in insects that live in eucalypts and Frank is a biologist whose passion is photographing birds.

Each of our 3 guides are locals and are all are active in the bushcare of Seven Hills. Whilst most of us have walked before in this lovely bushland, we will come away from this one with a whole new appreciation for trees, the insects, the birds and all of the life that exists in the forest.

NUMBERS WILL BE LIMITED, SO PLEASE REGISTER VIA HUMANITIX  HERE

Seven Hills Bushland Reserve covers over 50 hectares and is located 15 minutes south east of Brisbane's CBD. Fortunately the forest was saved from development in 1978 when the council decided to preserve the area as a reserve rather than sell it for housing.

Our walk will explore the riparian rainforest that borders upper Perrin Creek and observe towering tree-ferns, old-growth eucalypts, bush tucker and verdant native grasses. We might see or hear a variety of native birds where they gather next to deep permanent waterholes. We'll also see evidence of koala and glider activity. After a short break we'll climb to the highest point in the reserve to inspect bush regeneration in a harsh environment.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a relaxed and highly informative walk through one of Brisbane’s urban pockets of bushland.

Meet: at 7:45 am for an 8:00am start

Where: Next to the boom gate at the entrance to Seven Hills Reserve at the end of Latina Avenue, Seven Hills

Wear: Sturdy footwear, water, sunscreen and insect repellent

Bring: Hat, camera, binoculars if you have them, water, insect repellent & a snack

Expect: a 2km walk over 1.5 to 2 hours, half flat, half hilly on fire trails

Note:  There are no toilets or taps near this bushland

Information: text Michael on 04 0584 4898
