ACF Community Group - Inner Melbourne would like to invite you to a community screening and discussion of Guarding the Galilee and A Mighty Force documentary films.

Filled with stories from the front lines of the proposed Adani coal mine, Guarding the Galilee captures the raw beauty of the Queensland outback – where Adani's mine threatens essential water resources and much more. Presented by Queensland-born actor Michael Caton, Guarding the Galilee is a 30-minute documentary on the campaign to stop the biggest coal mine in Australian history: Adani’s Carmichael project.

#StopAdani: A Mighty Force reveals an unstoppable movement for change in action. This 30-minute documentary captures the power and passion of people taking extraordinary action to stop Adani from building one of the biggest coal mines in the world, threatening our water, our climate and our Great Barrier Reef. From remote central Queensland where the mine is proposed to be built, to rallies in metropolitan Melbourne and Sydney, this David and Goliath battle is one of the most determined and focused campaigns in Australia’s recent history.

After each film screening, we will have time for a Q&A session. One of the ACF representatives will share the latest updates on the current status and strategy for Stop Adani campaign with specific actions that all of us can take to make a difference.

The event will be hosted at LongPlay which is located at 318 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North VIC 3068. It is a 1 min walk from “Holden St/St Georges Rd” stop on Tram #11, so accessible through public transport.

Doors will open at 6:00 for a 6:30 pm start. Come for an early dinner and we’d really appreciate if you could kindly call the chef Tim on 0423115774 to book ahead your dinner plan so that he knows how many to cater for. Please bring along your family and friends too – let's be the change we want to see!

As we progress into an era that's undeniably going to be powered by renewables, we have a duty to our planet and the generations who will inhabit it after us, to put an end to the absolute stupidity that is new fossil fuel infrastructure in this country. While we've won some mighty victories, our fight is far from over. Stopping the Adani coal mine, or any new fossil fuel projects in Australia, is the fight of our generation.

ACF Community Inner Melbourne is part of a network of independently organised, volunteer-run groups in the ACF community. ACF will pass on your contact details to the host for the purpose of running the event.
