Streamteam water testing is run every month by the amazing folk at Friends of Merri Creek. Physical chemistry tests tell us about the health of the waters (phosphates, turbidity, ammonia) and the critters who live in them. You could meet spider crabs, dragonflies and net spinning caddis in the waters we test, and see where rakali have been feasting on fresh water mussels.
Each month is different as the seasons change and human activities upstream impact the creek as it flows through our local area too.
We'll be joined this month by special guest Cintia Dotto, an expert in water sensitive urban design (WSUD) and how it can help protect precious creeks like the Merri.
Cintia has a background in Civil Engineering with more than 15 years experience in integrated water management in urban environments. She focuses on nature based solutions that manage stormwater in the catchment to manage flood and contribute to the health of our urban waterways.
Meet us 1pm at nearby Twice Shy cafe (171 Miller St, Fitzroy North VIC 3068) to join the talk and have your questions answered over lunch (at own expense).
Come along creekside at 2pm if you are giving the WSUD section a miss.
Wondering what to expect? Check out our report from our first visit.
If you or guests have any accessibility needs we should be aware of, please let us know as soon as possible so we can get in touch.
