End Fossil Fuel Sponsorships was born in Magandjin after the release of a Comms Declare report in December 2025 which revealed that Shell’s QGC gas business provided more than $11 million to the Queensland Museum, gaining potential influence to school programs and science education used by thousands of young people across the country. The report warned that misleading content is reaching primary and secondary students, shaping how children understand science, responsibility, and the industries driving global warming.

A second investigation, FROM CRADLE TO CAREER, released 3 months ago, identified approximately 260+ publicly documented programs, partnerships, sponsorships and other initiatives through which major fossil fuel companies - including Woodside, Shell, Chevron, Santos, BHP and Glencore - as well as fossil fuel industry-funded education bodies, industry associations and partner organisations, engage with Australian children and young people.

These activities span schools, early childhood settings, museums, science centres, sporting clubs, teacher professional development, scholarships, STEM initiatives
and career pathway programs. Together, they create an invasive fossil fuel industry presence in environments that help shape children’s learning, aspirations and understanding of the world

As a community, we are banding to together to urge the Qld Museum to drop the Shell sponsorship of their educational materials that fail to mention fossil fuels are the cause of Climate Change. We also urge QM to source ethical funding, and not to renew their sponsorship agreement with Shell GC.

Fossil fuel companies should not have access to our children's education.
