Fix our Nature Laws!
After years of delays and broken promises, Labor just introduced new nature laws to Parliament last week. But they’re not good enough.
The draft laws have too many loopholes that benefit big polluters and bulldozers. Parliament has to work to get it right. That’s why ACF is calling for a proper Senate inquiry so we can ensure Australia’s national nature law actually does what it says on the tin: protects nature.
Join us on Thursday 27th November at Fleming Park (corner of Albert and Cross St) before we walk to Senator Jess Walsh's Office, where we'll hand-deliver our senate submissions as well as our nature laws open letter and speak about our key asks:
✅ Stop extinctions and restore nature so animals, people and communities can thrive.
✅ End the deforestation loopholes that enable rogue bulldozing of our forests and woodlands.
✅ Independent and accountable decision making that stops big polluters dodging the law and puts an end to illegal bulldozing.
✅ Embeds climate harm in decision-making, to protect communities and wildlife from bleaching, algae blooms, fires and floods.
