The Albanese Government has the power to stop further gas expansion and protect the places we love, before it's too late. We all urgently need to speak up now and let our government know that Australians want an end to climate-wrecking coal and gas!
That's why ACF has partnered with Environment Centre NT, Climate Action Merribek, Climate Action Maribyrnong and Darebin Climate Action Now for a huge town hall that will shed light on some dangerous gas projects that are currently under consideration by the Albanese Government.
Traditional Owners in the Northern Territory are fighting tirelessly to protect Country, water and our climate from destructive gas expansions. On Saturday 23 November, we have a special opportunity to hear their voices and stand in solidarity with them here in Melbourne’s north. RSVP now to hear from incredible NT Traditional Owners about the urgent threats to our climate and how we can stop them!
We need to show up together, to help the fight to protect Country and climate and tell it to the Albanese Government straight - their actions are putting our future, and the future of our beautiful big backyard, at risk.
Come along to this powerful town hall to find out how you can help stop water-guzzling gas fracking in the Beetaloo Basin and call on the Government to redirect the proposed $1.9 billion government handout to the polluting Middle Arm gas hub in Darwin.
You'll hear from an incredible lineup of speakers, including:
- Miliwanga Wurrben is a Rembarrnga woman from Central Arnhem land, but now lives in Katherine. She describes herself as a traditional healer, weaver and midwife.
-
Mililma May is a Danggalaba Kulumbirgin Tiwi woman. She is a community organiser and freelance writer. She has supported grassroots movements across the Top End in the fight for Aboriginal self-determination and liberation.
- Adam Gaston is a Mangarrayi man. He is an advocate for Country and spokesperson for his community. In his fight, Adam has travelled to Canberra to lobby politicians, calling on water to be protected from poisonous and dangerous fracking.
-
Dr Louise Woodward is a Northern Territory paediatrician from Darwin who has been using her voice and expertise as a doctor to raise the alarm about the health impacts of the Middle Arm gas hub and Beetaloo fracking.
- MC'd by Environment Centre NT's Executive Director Kirsty Howey.
