For the first time in Australia’s history, First Peoples and a state government have negotiated a Treaty. This new relationship recognises Aboriginal people’s ongoing connection to their lands, cultures and communities, and supports their right to make decisions about their future.
But Treaty is more than a political milestone. It’s deeply tied to caring for Country, protecting water, and confronting the climate crisis with wisdom that’s been passed down for thousands of generations.
Join us on Tuesday 7 October from 7–8pm for a special Treaty & Environment webinar, co-hosted by Environment Victoria, 350.org and Friends of the Earth, with special guests from the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria and Common Threads.
Together we’ll explore:

- What “land back” and “water back” mean, with examples from Victoria and beyond.
- How First Peoples’ leadership and decision-making strengthen environmental campaigns.
