To give ourselves the best chance of stopping climate impacts like fires and floods getting worse, Australia needs to quickly build renewable energy projects like offshore wind to phase out fossil fuels and reduce climate pollution. Sadly, disinformation has caused and fuelled people’s worries that this could be bad for nature.
Climate change, fuelled by fossil fuels, poses the greatest threat to whales and marine ecosystems. Wind farms offer clean energy to replace fossil fuels, safeguarding whales, dolphins, and marine life from climate impacts like warming and acidifying oceans.
We need to build a community of people willing to stand up and loudly champion renewable energy projects that are good for naure and people.
There are real benefits for Illawarra communities. While the fossil industry declines, wind farms will create new jobs and career pathways for local workers and young people. Clean energy can provide cheaper electricity for homes and power the furnaces at local steel mills.
