Westgate Park Volunteer Day & BBQ is on Sunday 26th October!

Get directions

Join the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) Community Macnamara and Westgate Biodiversity for a Sunday morning of volunteering, followed by a delicious sausage sizzle and wine tasting!

We’ll be getting our hands dirty between 9:30am – 12:00pm, helping care for the park and local habitat . Afterward, if you can stick around from 12:00pm – 2:00pm we are having a sausage sizzle to raise funds to support the park volunteer days. There will be drinks, some food and great company.

Sausage sizzle + wine tasting:

We’ll have traditional and vegan sausage options fresh off the BBQ, with ingredients and supplies kindly provided by Westgate Biodiversity and ACF.

Local wine-maker Nikki from Susuro, a unique urban winery,  will also be bringing a curated selection of wines to playfully pair with our sausage offerings (yes, we know it’s not exactly fine dining – that’s half the fun 🍷🌭).

Pricing (pay on the day):

$5 per sausage (traditional & vegan options available)

$8–$12 per glass of wine (selection from Susuro Wines)

Proceeds will go toward covering event costs, with any surplus supporting future volunteer days led by our organisations.

9:30am                          Introduction to the volunteer activities & safety briefing.

10:00 - 11:45am              Volunteer activity.

🌱🐢🌏 What to Bring

This is Melbourne! Please bring a hat, sunscreen, jacket, reusable water bottle, enclosed shoes and gardening gloves (extra gloves will be available). All gardening equipment is provided.

If you are coming along to the BBQ, please bring a plate and cup. We will have additional plates, cups and cuttlery if required.

👉 Working with Children Check (for volunteers) - All organisations in Victoria that provide services or facilities for children are required to comply with Child Safe Standards. To comply with these Standards, Vic Parks which oversees the management of this park, require that all volunteers who attend an event after 30 June 2022 have applied for a Working with Children Check (WWCC) for volunteers. You can apply via the link below. The cards may take time to arrive. Proof of your submission is acceptable to participate in this event.

Working with Children Checks are FREE for volunteers. Make sure you select for Volunteer on the form.
